Wearing heels for ten years as a flight attendant, I woke up with Plantar Fasciitis and Metatarsalgia, which caused extreme heel and ball-of-feet pain. That was five years ago. Today I walk an average of 5 miles a day w pain-free. I rotate between two different shoe styles, place extra inserts, and wear crocks or recovery shoes at home. They are all listed here.
I have personally tested the shoes listed to be the most comfortable for long walks exploring cities or ruins or hiking long treks in the woods, or taking long walks on sandy beaches. Mobility is freedom, and comfortable mobility is simply luxurious.
NOTE: I used my Hoka's for dry trails or city walks everywhere on all trips described in this website.
TIP: Don't wear them when walking the white sand deserts or any sandy trail. The mesh allows the small space around your feet to fill up with sand. (JUL 2021)

NOTE - APRIL 2022: AMAZING! While in Mexico for two months, I used these sandals 95% of the time walking in the small town of Bucerias, MX, and to the beaches practically every day. I have princess feet that require 20 mattresses to feel good. (Just a joke referencing the Princess and the Pea fairytale.) The Cloud Sandal is the first "flat" shoe I have worn exclusively for two months in the last 20 years. (David loves them, too.)
NOTE - JULY 2021: I LOVE THESE! They are water sandals that proved to be comfortable walking on sandy beaches and exploring quaint towns. The rubber sole is surprisingly comfortable in hot weather without fretting over sweating feet.
